The Physical Therapy Program at the University of Rhode Island prepares students for careers as licensed physical therapists. Through an intensive three year course of study, students are exposed to basic sciences, evaluative and treatment theories, intervention techniques, professional issues analysis, and skills development to allow independent practice.

The Physical Therapy Program is organized within the Department of Kinesiology in the College of Human Science and Services. In addition to Physical Therapy, the Department of Kinesiology offers programs in Exercise Science, Health Fitness, and Physical Education Teacher Education. The College of Human Science and Services also offers programs of study in communicative disorders, education, human development, counseling, family studies, gerontology, consumer affairs and textile marketing and design.
